St. Louis…Park
Lots of people, sometimes jokingly, refer to St. Louis Park as “The Park.” That’s partly because the name St. Louis Park is so confusing. “No, not St. Louis, Missouri,” I’ve often said to someone on the phone. “St. Louis Park. It’s a different city. It’s a city in Minnesota.”
Currently, I’m marketing three properties here in my hometown of St. Louis Park. At showings, prospective buyers often comment that they own or rent in the city today, but want to stay in The Park. Others are excited to move to our city for the first time. Unlike Bloomington’s Mall of America or Hopkins’ Main Street, St. Louis Park isn’t defined by one thing, place, or landmark. Yet, there’s a certain mix of factors that makes the community so desirable.
Certainly one reason is its strong sense of community. I’ve long thought that St. Louis Park pride is generated largely because our city and our school district share the same boundaries — that’s unusual for a city our size in the metro area. That synergy means neighbors often meet other neighbors at both school and civic events over the course of 20 years, raising families together and developing bonds.
St. Louis Park also has relatively affordable housing options, unique employers, great schools, strong community organizations, diverse faith communities, excellent infrastructure, and more. Still another reason is our proximity to the center of the metro area, to the chain of lakes, and other attractions.
It’s hard to put your finger on it, but The Park is a great moniker for this town. Like a park, St. Louis Park feels familiar, safe, and reliable. A park is close to work and home. A park is a place for kids to play and run free. And you can count on a park — it’s always open and it’s a great place to meet friends, catch up with neighbors, and relax.
If you’re in the market to buy or sell a home in The Park (St. Louis Park!), or another great Twin Cities community, I’d love to be of assistance.
